For those interested in Buffalo hunting with Gary Hopkins, in Gokwe or Sondelani, I'll give my thoughts. First off, Gary is a very experienced PH, he will always give his all to help you have a successful hunt. I have used his service in many areas of Zimbabwe. I did my first African hunt in Gokwe. Gary was helpful with educating me about the wildlife in the area. Gokwe is a huge area, but most hunting is Done near the river, that's where the game is. The camp is pleasant and located on the edge of the Ume river.
In my limited experience, Gokwe has a good population of Buffalo but don't expect an easy hunt! I got my Buff on the 9th day of a 10-day hunt. Gokwe has a selection of plains game, I collected a good Kudu bull while there, saw many elephants and a great variety of bird life. I hope to return in the future.
Hunting with Gary Hopkins at either Gokwe or Sondelani is a good experience, at a reasonable cost.

Gary Hopkins is a very experienced PH. His code of ethics is impeccable. I have hunted with Gary Hopkins many times since 2004 and have taken everything from Elephant to Steinbock.
In the Gokwe hunting area I took a very nice Bull Buffalo. The largest of the 5 that I have taken with Gary. I also took a 56-inch Kudu Bull and a very nice Bushbuck. Hunted Gokwe in early November so it was quite hot then. Like almost all hunting it is best first thing in the morning and right at dark in the evening.
Even with my Lion and Leopard I was successful on all my hunts with Gary. I know hunters who have tried unsuccessfully five times to get a good Lion. I was successful on all my hunts with Gary. You will be happy if you hunt with Gary.
